Inside Out Ottawa-Gatineau LGBT Film And Video Festival: Audience up by 15%!
By Jason St-Laurent, Director of Programming
We're back from our satellite festival at the National Gallery of Canada! With a box office increase of 15%, we're delighted by the community's support of this young initiative. A record-breaking 20 community groups and sponsors came on board to support Inside Out and we salute them, including our Founding Media Sponsor Capital Xtra!

We hosted guests from as far away as France, including Paris-based artist and filmmaker Brice Dellsperger and St. John's, Newfoundland documentary filmmaker Gerry Rogers, both of whom charmed the pants off festival-goers.
On closing night, we presented to a sold-out crowd the Audience Award for Best Feature (Ferron: Girl on a Road by Gerry Rogers) and Best Short (Get Happy by Mark Payne).

 AROUND TOWN
A Single Man
by Tom Ford
IN SELECT THEATRES DECEMBER 11th
Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, A SINGLE MAN, is the story of George Falconer, a 52 year old British college professor [Colin Firth] who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner, Jim [Matthew Goode]. George dwells on the past and cannot see his future as we follow him through a single day, where a series of events and encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there is a meaning to life after Jim. George is consoled by his closest friend Charley [Julianne Moore], a 48 year old beauty who is wrestling with her own questions about the future. A young student of George’s, Kenny [Nicholas Hoult], who is coming to terms with his true nature, stalks George as he feels in him a kindred spirit.
A SINGLE MAN is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.

The Toxic Avenger

AND IT'S A WRAP... Final Word
Thanks for Coming Out!

Winter may just be around the corner but the Festival spirit was on display on November 17th as Inside Out presented a double-bill of queer films at the ROM. Audiences were treated to a powerhouse performance by Sharon Gless in Hannah Free, and laugh-out-loud-while-rolling-your-eyes camp courtesy of Eating Out 3, the third installment of the popular series.

Members at the benefactor level and above got a chance to meet each other and catch up at the pre-screening VIP reception at Michelle's Brasserie (www.michellesbrasserie.ca). Greeted with a glass of bubbly, members rubbed elbows, ate delicious French appetizers and got some inside scoop of our 20th Anniversary plans.
Take a look at pictures from the evening.
